Guess who came through? its no other than Black Shark. The Xiaomi sub-brand ushered in the fifth generation of their super gaming smartphone today, which is the Black Shark 5 line-up.
The line-up is composed of three different smartphones which are the Black Shark 5 Pro, Black Shark 5 RS, and Black Shark 5. They also released a couple of accessories which we will still get into.
These three devices have three different Chipsets on the inside, with the Pro model having the almighty Snapdragon 8 Gen 1. Let’s get into the three devices, shall we?
Black Shark 5
The Black Shark 5 is the smallest of the pack, sporting a Snapdragon 870 chip,coupled with 8GB or 12GB of LPDDR5 RAM and 128GB or 256GB of UFS 3.1 storage.
This device runs on Joy UI 13 which is based on Android 12. It’s display is a 6.67 inch AMOLED panel with up to 144 Hz refresh rate and 144 Hz touch sampling rate.
There is a triple camera setup at the back, composed of 64MP main cam, and 13MP and 5MP Auxiliary cameras, while the Selfie shooter is a 16MP one.
the powerhouse of the smartphone has a 4,650 mAh capacity and charges at a 120W rate with two modes.
Black Shark 5 RS
Black Shark 5 RS makes use of last year’s king, the Snapdragon 888 (or 888+ which is for the 12GB RAM/ 256GB storage model.
The display is also a 6.67” AMOLED panel which supports HDR10 and DCI-P3. it’s brightness is peaked at 1,300 nits.
similar to the Pro, this display has a 144 Hz refresh rate and 720 Hz touch sampling rate. it also has those magnetic shoulder buttons which are on the Pro model.
the back cameras are triple, featuring a 64 MP main sensor, a 13 MP 120° ultra wide cam and a 5 MP tele-macro camera.
Thanks to the god of technology, there is a 3.5mm audio jack on this device. Black Shark 5 RS runs on Android 12 but gets the older Joy UI 12.8
Black Shark 5 Pro
We are down to the top dog, Black Shark 5 Pro, featuring Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 SoC, 16 GB of LPDDR5 RAM and 512 GB of internal storage.
The chipset is cooled by vapor chambers on two sides, and this feature is available to all three devices, so gamers don’t have to worry about the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 becoming a mini oven when playing their favorite games.
speaking about storage, The storage is divided equally between an NVMe SSD and the usual UFS 3.1 ( 256 GB each)
The device has a 4,650 mAh battery capacity and it supports 120W fast charging which can charge from 0% to 100% in just 15 minutes, welcome to the era of fast charging.
This device runs on Android 12 and Joy UI 13.
The phone has two symmetrical speakers with 1.5 cc cavities. The 5 Pro is currently the top phone in DxOMark’s audio chart with 86 points (beating its predecessors by 5 points).
There is also an X-axis linear motor for better haptic feedback. Four microphones are arranged on each of the four sides of the phone, so it can always pick up your voice clearly.
the cameras on this smart phone are 108MP main shooter, 13MP ultra wide and 5MP tele-macro auxiliary cameras.
Black Shark Wireless Buds
The Black Shark Wireless buds are based on the Snapdragon Sound platform. The premium wireless buds have 12mm drivers coupled with Active Noise Cancellation up to 40 dB. IPX4 splash resistance is also present in this device.
