Tecno has launched the Camon 19 series in Nigeria, with the spectacular photography as its selling power. On this Article we will be looking into the Camon 19 Pro (4G), and i must say that Tecno has really done a great job on the Photography, and videography capabilities on this device, but it also comes with some downsides.
Without wasting much of your time, let’s get into the review of the Camon 19 Pro, shall we
Inside-The-Box
Inside the box of the Camon 19 Pro, you get everything you need, and i mean everything, from a transparent TPU case, to a pair of earphones, SIM ejector tool, 33W fast charging brick. This is one area that Tecno doesn’t compromise on
Design & Display of the Camon 19 Pro
The design of this device is a stunning one. It takes the design of the Spark 9 Pro and makes it even better. it has all the ports you need, including a USB-C port and a 3.5mm audio jack.
It comes in three stunning colors; Eco Black, which is made to like the galaxy with a lot of stars, Sea Salt White which is a blend between white and light blue, and Digital green which is just green with some artistic patterns on the back.
The Camon 19 Pro sports a 6.8-inches IPS LCD panel with a FHD+ resolution and 120 Hz of refresh. it also houses the 32 MP selfie camera in a hole-punch cutout. The fingerprint sensor isn’t in-display, but is mounted on the side.
Performance
This is the area where the Camon 19 Pro didn’t meet the expectations of many, as it has a 2yr-old Mediatek Helio G96 SoC sitting at its helm. The chip is built on a 12nm architecture and it’s the same chip that was present on the Camon 19 Premier,
The chip is backed up by 8GB of RAM, and either 128GB, or 256GB of storage space which is expandable by Micro SD card. The RAM also has memory fusion (virtual RAM) which allows it to be extended up to 11GB of RAM.
This chip shows high AnTuTu, (300k+) and Geekbench benchmark scores so we expect good gaming capabilities. For average users, you won’t have any problems and i can vouch for that. The software part is run by Android 12, with a HIOS 8.6 skin on top. The device might get the Android 13 update.
Photography on the Camon 19 Pro
This is the star of the show, This has been the Main focus of the Camon series, and i must say that the Camon 19 pro models have the best camera ever seen on a Tecno device, such that it stacks up against the Samsung Galaxy A53, and the Xiaomi Redmi Note 11.
For starters, it has a 64MP RGBW sensor as its main camera. It is the first ever 64MP RGBW on a device and its was co-developed with Samsung mainly to improve videography and Night Photography.
It has a 50 MP camera for great telephoto shots, and a 2 MP depth sensor. No macro sensor for close up shots. Now if you need a powerful smartphone for photos, or to even start a Youtube channel, and your budget is below $300, i genuinely think this device should be in your consideration list.
Powerhouse
The Camon 19 Pro comes with a 5,000 mAh battery which should last an average user all day. It also has a 33W fast charging brick which should be able to give your device a full charge in about an hour.
Conclusion on the Camon 19 Pro
The conclusion on this device is that it has good cameras and its worth buying for photography lovers. For gamers i’ll advice you to go for the Camon 19 Pro 5G instead as it features a better Dimensity 810 chip, but it has a slightly increased price.
