Automobile Manufacturers, Geely has completed the acquisition of smartphone company, Meizu as part of its aim to break into the smartphone market, though Meizu didn’t mention it on the media.
Last year, Geely launched a company called Hubei Xingji Shidai Technology who’s goal is to produce smartphones and other smart gadgets.
Geely has enough funds to bring Meizu back to life, combined with Meizu’s resources since the company hasn’t been doing well in the last few years, even when they partnered with Sony, the company didn’t come back to life.
This is just enough proof that as the world is going electric, smartphone manufacturers are in the best position to make operating systems which will be able to control a car. A typical example of this is the Apple Carplay which Apple announced at their WWDC2022 event.
Similar to Apple Carplay, Meizu already developed Flyme for car OS so Geely is going to capitalize on it and develop it further.
