The Spark 9 series have been unveiled in Nigeria recently, and the main focus of this article is the higher model which is the Spark 9 Pro.
This device comes with worthy upgrades from the Spark 8p of last year and a complete redesign, So without wasting much of your time lets get into this review, shall we.
Inside-The Spark 9 Pro-Box
Tecno fans and users alike know that this company doesn’t miss out on giving us every accessory we need, unlike some flagship manufacturers.
Inside the box, we are greeted with the Spark 9 Pro device itself, then we get the SIM ejector pin, a pair of earphones, an 18W charging brick, USB-A to USB-C charging cable, a protective clear case, and some paperwork. The box also comes with a redesign too.
Design & Display
The new design of the Spark 9 Pro can be described in two words; Classic, and Elegant. the back comes in two shades of glossy (which is the top side) and matte finish. the triple camera setup has been put into two big circles covered with glass.
The device comes in four colors which are Holy White, Burano Blue, quantum black and Hacker storm ( which is basically lemon, like the summer mohjito from the Spark 7 series). sometimes i sit down and start thinking of the person who named these colors.
The display of the Spark 9 Pro is the regular 6.6-inches IPS LCD panel with a resolution of 1080 x 2460 pixels and it has really slim bezels. Selfie cam is housed in a waterdrop notch display, and it has front facing LED’s.
Performance
We have a Mediatek Helio G85 processor sitting at the helm of the Spark 9 Pro which is a huge upgrade from the Helio G35 that was present in the Spark 8p.
The chip is backed up by 4GB or 6GB of RAM while having 128GB of storage space. if that storage isn’t enough for you, there’s always an option for memory expansion through a micro SD card slot.
For the software side, we have the Android 12 and Tecno’s HIOS 8.6 skin on top. For day-to-day usage, the Spark 9 Pro got you covered, and you get average gaming from graphic demanding games on the device.
- AnTuTu V9 = 245,670
- Geekbench 5 =
Spark 9 Pro Photography
For picture and video lovers, the Spark 9 Pro’s rear cameras is averagely good at this price point but definitely isn’t the best. We get a 50 MP main camera, a 2 MP depth sensor, and an AI lens ( which is more like a gimmick to me).
The selfie camera is the selling point of this device as we get a 32 MP selfie shooter on the front which is the most megapixel count on a device at this price point.Though megapixel count do not determine the quality of images it brings, the pictures are of good quality.
Powerhouse
We will continue to get a 5000 mAh Li-Po battery on our Spark devices cause it doesn’t look like Tecno is going to be increasing, or reducing it anytime soon.
For charging, you get 18W of fast charging through USB-C and a full charge can last you 12 hours of average screen time. As always,i can’t say the same for gamers.
Conclusion
for a price of NGN 99,000 ($ 165), the Spark 9 Pro is a worthy upgrade if you currently wield a Spark 8p, but for this price point you could get some better, old devices so the choice is up to you.
And if i should add, this is no different from getting an Infinix Hot 12. its basically the same device with different designs. You can check out other reviews below and a review of the Spark 9T and Camon 19 neo would be out soon. keep on reading.
