Tecno has launched the MegaBook S1 laptop, a premium version of the MegaBook T1 which was launched at this year’s IFA event and its price starts at $1,500 and $1,600 for the higher storage unit.

This 16” laptop measures 13.5mm in thickness and weighs 1.35kg (2.97 lbs). Its body is made of magnesium alloy making it very durable.

The display of the MegaBook S1 is a 16-inch one having a 3.2K resolution, a 16:10 aspect ratio, 120Hz refresh rate, and 100% sRGB coverage. Its brightness reaches up to 450 nits.

There is an upgrade in the chip used, from an 11th gen Core i7 chip powering it’s predecessor, to a 12th gen Core i7 chip and 2 fans for cooling it. There is a 16GB LPDDR5 RAM, but there are two SSD storage options, 512GB, or 1TB.

The MegaBook S1 comes with Windows 11 out of the box plus and Tecno added some features to spice things up. For example, there is NFC, which lets you quickly pair your Tecno phone and view its screen on the laptop display using the OneLeap feature.

Tecno managed to fit 6 speakers and added DTS:X Ultra support. There are two microphones coupled with AI-powered noise cancellation for calls. The built-in webcam has AI smarts too, it can detect when someone is peeking over your shoulder and it will blank the screen.

The MegaBook S1 has a battery capacity of 70Wh. It charges through a USB-C port connected to the 65W GaN charger that comes in the box.

It’s ports include; two USB-A ports, two USB-C ports, a full-size HDMI, a 3.5mm headphone jack and a microSD card reader.
