Its July 6, and the Asus ROG Phone 6 series featuring the ROG Phone 6, and it’s Pro version have been released yesterday as a predecessor to the ROG Phone 5, and trust me, Asus has bumped up the specs of this phone from just any flagship to what i’d like to call “Gaming beast”.
The ROG phone has a reputation for being the best smartphone when it comes to gaming, but this time, (According to MKBHD) Asus has tried to focus on making the device a daily driver , but i’ll explain that in a later review, So let me give you the device in full details.
ROG Phone 6 Specifications
The screens of both devices are a 6.78-inch AMOLED displays with 1080 x 2448px resolution and 165Hz refresh rates which can be switched to either 144Hz, all the way down to 60Hz and this makes for a very smooth user experience. Gorilla Glass Victus protects the front. There is also a customizable OLED screen at the back of the device.
Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 sits at the helm of both devices backed up by 12GB or 16GB of LPDDR5 RAM on the ROG Phone 6, and the ROG Phone 6 Pro also gets the excessive 18GB RAM from last model. The storage options are either 256GB or 512GB with no support for SD cards. With this configuration, plus Asus’s improved cooling system, playing any game on this device will be a piece of cake.
The device has two front-facing speakers, three microphones, Dirac Virtuo spatial audio and a headphone jack, something we don’t see on flagships these days. The programmable AirTrigger ultrasonic buttons have also being brought back. Located on the right-hand side and back of the phone, these buttons aid with gaming, allowing you to map your controls inside supported games.
The ROG Phone 6 is IPX4 certified, and the software is run by Android 12 with ROG UI and Zen UI. For the Cameras, we have a 50MP Sony IMX766 main shooter , a 13MP ultrawide cam, and a 5MP macro sensor. You now have a 12MP Sony IMX663 sensor for you quick selfies.
To make sure you don’t run out of juice quickly, Asus Provides you with two 3,000 mAh cells, making it a 6,000 mAh battery which can be charged through two USB-C ports at the rate of 65W, (at the same time if you like).
Pricing
If you would like to have one of these, the 12GB+256GB configuration for the ROG Phone 6 starts at €999 (approx. $1,024), and the Pro model with an 18GB+512GB config will go for €1,299.
