It’s really surprising to see how we are moving on from traditional digital camera to smartphones, our ancestors would be really proud.
Many people, or should i say, 80% of the worlds smartphone buyers take the device’s camera into consideration. Some could be looking to take good photos, or start a vlog like on YouTube.
This battle has always been between Apple’s iPhones and Samsung’s S Ultra devices, but could it be the same this year?
well without waiting much of your time, these are the top 5 camera smartphones of the 1st quarter of 2022.
NB. despite the shortcomings of these devices, each of them would be good for taking quality shots and would far outperform the midrangers.
5. Oneplus 10 Pro
The Oneplus 10 pro was launched in China earlier this year, and its global version launched shortly after.
This device features a triple rear camera setup which contain a 48 MP wide, main camera, a 50 MP ultra-wide camera, and an 8 MP telephoto camera with 3x optical zoom.
They also had a collaboration with hasselblad to make the cameras just like most smartphone companies do nowadays. it shoots videos at a maximum of 8K in 24 frames-per-second.
The Oneplus 9 Pro from last year was regarded as one of the best cameras of 2021, but it seems its predecessor didn’t quite meet up with the competition this year.
Though this camera is better than last year’s 9 Pro, competition is quite fierce this year. these days, camera software is an important tool in taking good photos, not just the quality of the cameras itself, and this is what gives most smartphones an edge over this one.
4. Sony Xperia 1 IV
Sony makes one of the best traditional cameras, if not the best of them so it shouldn’t come as a surprise to you reading this, and sony is known for supplying sensors for other smartphones.
The Sony Xperia IV features a quad rear setup which are a 12 MP wide, main camera, a 12 MP telephoto sensor
a 12 MP ultra-wide camera, and a 0.3 MP TOF.
This device lacks good enough software even though there three different apps on the device for accessing the camera. It has good features, the best slo-mo video in the smartphone industry, the colors are not brilliant enough and the other phones on this list do a better job at this.

3. Google Pixel 6 Pro
The Google Pixel 6 Pro despite being a last year phone, still out performs most device in 2022. The pixel 6A has been announced, but we haven’t had a review yet to know how best the camera works.
This device should have come on top if we also put price into consideration cause you can get this at price of $789 or roughly $800 and this is the cheapest on this list.
This device is greatly loved for the way it handles software, including colors, good videography. This device 50 MP, wide, Main camera, a 48 MP telephoto which has 4x optical zoom, and a 12 MP ultra-wide cam.
2. iPhone 13 Pro Max
Now a lot of iPhone fans and lovers might disagree with this decision, but it is what it is, considering this is a last year phone and smartphones are constantly upgrading.
We already know that iPhone and Samsung have undoubtedly the best cameras in the industry, with out any collaboration with traditional camera brands.
The iPhone 13 Pro Max is still a top performer (obviously, Megapixel count doesn’t really matter), Portrait shots are still the best you can find on a phone, it has many different filters which you can use to take great photos, and the parent company, Apple introduced cinematic mode which is good for taking movie-like videos, great for your YouTube videos.
1. Samsung Galaxy S22 Ultra
And, here we have our king, the S22 Ultra which was released on February is the perfect smartphone camera for photos, the photo and video editing software is still top notch. It still kept its 108 MP main camera, and 100x zoom from the S21 Ultra.
It also has cinematic mode which can shoot videos in 8K. These are the best camera phones for now, but we are on the look out for other fantastic camera phones, including the iPhone 14 which is rumored to arrive by Q4.
